Diabetes and Hormone Center is located in the heart of Colombo, in the first floor of the Specialist Center of Nawaloka Hospital. The state of the art Specialist Center of Nawaloka Hospital is on the Nawam Mawatha and is easy to find. It offers five floors of car parks and lift access to the Diabetes and Hormone Center. We also offer a convenient satellite DIabetes and Hormone Center at the Central Hospital, Norris Canal Road, Colombo 10.

Dr Noel Somasundaram

Consultant Endocrinologist
Diabetes and Hormone Center,
Colombo.
Dr Noel Somasundaram graduated (with honours) from the University of Jaffna and subsequently trained in the Endocrine Unit of St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London prior to being board certified as Endocrinologist by the PGIM, University of Colombo.
Dr Noel Somasundaram has many publications (100+ publications) in the field of diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism. He is the editor of Clinical Diabetology, a handbook for diabetes management and has contributed book chapters to many test books including the Oxford Desktop Reference Guide in Endocrinology. His awards include CEZ price for the best poster by the Society for Endocrinology, Best oral papers at the Winter Symposium at Vellore, South India, best paper at the South Asian Federation of Endocrine Societies meeting 2013, best oral paper at the annual sessions at the endocrine Society of Sri Lanka 2014,2015,2016.
He has been a principal investigator in many trials including the WHO polypill study and EMPAREG study.
He serves as Consultant Endocrinologist at Diabetes and Hormone Centre, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
He was the pioneer of endocrinology in Sri Lanka and is the first board certified endocrinologist in Sri Lanka. He is the founder of the Diabetes and Endocrine Unit of the National Hsopital of Sri Lanka where he served as the lead endocrinologist from 2004 to 2020. He has alsobeen the chief trainer in Endocrinology for the PostGraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo and has trained over 60 post graduate trainees.
He also serves as the Project Lead for Sri Lanka Diabetes and Cardiovascular Initiative- a National Project that aims to reduce the burden of diabetes and NCDs through primary and secondary prevention.
He is The President of the South Asian Federation of Endocrine Societies 2019-2021. He has been the President of the Endocrine Society of Sri Lanka 2013-2014.
